The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is dedicated to leading global environmental authority to address the international crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Having established universal environmental membership among all 193 UN Member States, UNEP works hard to foster safeguarded environments for future generations. 

Global ocean ecosystems are the vast networks of marine life and their physical environments that make up 70% of the planet's surface. Currently, these ecosystems are being destroyed by a plethora of persistent issues. Climate change, ocean acidification, pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction are only some of the multitude of threats these environments face. These challenges risk the loss of biodiversity that produces the resources we need to live. Delegates are tasked with deriving and debating solutions that address how to ensure the long-term sustainability of life within these ecosystems.
