The United Nations Commission on The Status of Women (UNCSW) was founded in 1946, following an Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution. UNCSW was formulated to illuminate women’s and girl’s rights and to shape the global standards on gender equality and empowerment.

The major topic of our committee will be women’s rights to menstrual health resources and education which affect millions of girls worldwide. Menstrual products are exorbitantly expensive for many people worldwide, due to gender-blind policies, such as the “pink tax”. These challenges stem from gender-based hierarchy, cultural taboos, and the inadequate access of menstrual education.  As delegates, you must target these root causes to eliminate the systemic inequalities and barriers that prevent women and girls from the access of safe and affordable menstrual health resources and education.
