Meet our board of Secretariat for VRMUN 2024!

2024 VRMUN Secretariat

Angel Yanga

Secretary General

Esteemed Delegates and Guests,

I am Angel Yanga, the Secretary-General for the Valley Regional Model United Nations (VRMUN) 2024. On behalf of the entire secretariat and staff, I am thrilled to welcome you to the 5th annual VRMUN conference. With great pleasure, I am pleased to announce that we are hosting our most diverse set of committees and crises, with over eight General Assembly Bodies and four Specialized and Crisis Bodies!

In the year 2020, we established VRMUN to provide a thrilling Model UN experience for our delegates across LA County and in the San Fernando Valley. As the first Model UN competition in the Valley, we have striven to offer diverse opportunities for our delegates to explore modern global issues, ranging from the proliferation of cyber warfare to the world-building fantasies of Percy Jackson. Our Secretariat and Staff remain steadfast in upholding the highest standards of diplomacy and creativity throughout our debates. Thus, we expect delegates to feel empowered in utilizing their skills in public speaking, research, and solution-building to formulate directives, papers, and resolutions aimed at addressing the world's most pressing issues today.

Most importantly, we hope our committees foster a welcoming environment for delegates from various levels of experience and backgrounds, encouraging them to pose questions and solutions both inside and outside our committee sessions. This support and interaction are vital in developing the skillsets and experiences of our staff members, advisors, and fellow delegates.

Having been a part of this staff for the past four years, I have witnessed how we've strengthened our dynamics to provide an incredible experience for everyone. Thus, I eagerly anticipate witnessing all of you during our committee sessions!

Respectfully,

Angel Yanga

Secretary-General, VRMUN 2023-2024

Ayush Singhal

Deputy-Secretary General

Distinguished Delegates and Guests,

My name is Ayush Singhal, your Deputy Secretary-General for the fifth annual Valley Regional Model UN Conference. This year marks the largest VRMUN conference in its history, with a record-breaking __ attendees and 12 committees. Over the past eight months, our staff has meticulously crafted these committees to make this conference fun and memorable for all involved.

Each of our GA committees has been made to address some of the most pressing issues across the globe. From territorial disputes to the evolution of warfare, delegates are enabled to explore and effect change in matters that can fundamentally alter the progression of our global society. Delegates are tasked with finding a mutually beneficial solution to the topics at hand, but doing so with diplomacy. Our Crisis committees take worlds that are well-known to many, and alter them to create new, unexplored environments. Our Red, White, and Blue Scare Crisis committee tasks delegates to navigate a reverse of the Red Scare, where the Capitalist Machine threatens the sanctity of the Communist establishment. Our Percy Jackson Crisis committee places delegates in the famous world of Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter, where delegates must work to defeat the Earth Mother herself.

In every committee, it is the aim of the VRMUN staff for every delegate to leave this conference with a greater global awareness than when they entered. Model UN is a place for delegates to not only learn about global politics, but to build confidence. We implore delegates to explore their creativity and go beyond their comfort zone in speaking up and standing out in committee.

This year marks my third and final year as a member of the VRMUN staff. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing delegates overcome their fear of public speaking and find success in places they never expected. I’ve watched our staff grow in both cohesion and experience, with each VRMUN having been better than the last. I eagerly await your arrival and can’t wait to see how your committees unfold!

Regards,

Ayush Singhal
