United Nations Development Programme
The United Nations Development Program works with over 170 nations and territories to help eliminate pressing social injustices, exclusions, and inequalities. The UNDP aims to equip nations with the resources, knowledge, and skills to overcome these barriers, and pave the way for stronger development in the future.
As human emitted greenhouse gases continue to blanket Earth’s atmosphere, global temperatures continue to rise—something that has been seen to increase mental health emergencies. As extreme temperatures, infectious diseases, and unpredictable natural disasters continue to spike, marginalized groups are the first to feel these impacts. With racial and socioeconomic challenges, these populations have become highly vulnerable to the dwindling mental health effects of climate change. From PTSD, to depression, acculturation stress and more, these populations require immediate attention. In this committee, delegates have been tasked with the goal to find ethical and viable ways to identify and reach these communities in need, and provide them with effective solutions to alleviate and or eliminate mental health stressors caused by climate change.
